Who is Proyecto Niños del Lago?

     Proyecto Niños del Lago is a non-profit social institution. The project is neither affiliated with any political party nor religion. It was created in 2003 a social project by San Pedro Spanish School in San Pedro La Laguna, Sololá to support the education of local children with little resources.

     Knowing that education is the solution to many problems and the key to the development of a community, Proyecto Niños del Lago started to work just one hour Monday thru Friday with a small group of kids with the unconditional help of previous students from the language school in San Pedro.  The volunteer helpers were from Canada and Belgium and the project also had sponsorship locally from D’noz Café.

Never the less, in May 2006 the project underwent a total reconstruction, as it was necessary to establish the functional basis of the kids that needed most.  Thru this reconstruction we established our mission, vision, value, objectives and goals.

         Actually, Proyecto Niños del Lago currently takes care of and gives support to 25 students, thirteen in elementary school and twelve students in middle and high school.

    We are a social organization that helps less fortunate students of our community through developing values, school scholarships, a medical check-up and vital provisions like means to develop their selves in order to achieve a better tomorrow. 

 

Our vision is to sow today the future in the children working toward a global perspective using local cultural context through our programs and activities.
